The Merlin Explorer Collection has been designed to complement the rise in accessible, do-it-all motorcycles, along with the increased desire to get out and travel thanks to nearly 18 months of COVID-19 lockdowns. Also behind the design – the rise of younger motorcyclists, with Instagram’s heritage scene rapidly growing and the build-up of motorcycling in popular culture encouraging more young people to get their licences. Explorer offers rugged styling, durability and protection while incorporating the signature Merlin styling using only the best materials and components, such as Halley Stevensons® waxed cotton, D3O® armour and Cordura®.
Merlin Monty Waxed Cotton Jacket
Leading the Explorer range, Monty is feature-packed and built to tackle any terrain. Its leading point: A seven-piece D3O® armour set to include elbow, shoulder, back and chest. The 12oz Halley Stevensons® waxed cotton outer is backed up by a removable Reissa® Active waterproof membrane, which is attached to a 125g thermal liner, making Monty an elite option for taking the road less travelled in any weather condition. Coming in two traditional explorer colours – black or olive – Monty is completed in the finer details: leather trim lines the top of each pocket while a magnetic fastening stops the collar flapping around when it’s pinned back. Caring for your Monty jacket
To care for your jacket, begin by lightly brushing off any dirt or soil, and use a cold damp cloth if necessary to wipe down the jacket. Clean it in this way regularly to maintain its appearance, but don’t be too harsh as the wax will be removed. You can re-wax the jacket with our Merlin Wax Cotton Tin when it loses its waxed finish and water begins to soak into the cotton rather than bead off.
